Frangipani - flower opened today

Hi guys, bought this plant last year. It has flowered quite a bit but this is the first close to perfect flower I have managed to get. The aroma is not surpassed by anything else I've ever come across, the second photo is of some unflowered seedlings I've been growing for two years. I grow these outside in really cold to hot weather but I make sure they are protected from frost and do not get wet in winter.

And the seedlings, I have lost the name tags but they should be splashes of pink and orange when they flower - maybe next year:

That is a pretty one. I only got blooms from my yellow ones earlier this year. Now they are all looking pretty bad from the freeze but they will usually come back OK.

No, it's a different plant family but it's a tropical grower than can tolerate a wide extreme of temperatures. They can grow quite large and are easy to divide up.

Look up Plumeria and Frangipani. You won't find an aroma any better than on these.

Katherine, it is not an orchid. The common name is Frangi Pangi. These are tropical plants that I guess are most familiar from Hawaii as they are used to make leis. They are tropical and you typically seen them in southern, more coastal areas. They grow into a tree. Even Tampa is a bit cold for them at times. They do better south.

PS They are easy to root. You take a cut limb or branch and stick it in dirt. Water, then leave it alone. I've got a seed pod a cousin popped off her tree and gave me but it may have been too green. If not, I'll be trying some seeds. I think they are pink.

I live in a climate where the temps can get down to 32F, with the right care they grow here no problems. Just avoid frost, they grow outside tropical zones with few problems if care is taken.
