WowZa!

That pink is VERY sharp lookin' ! I like! I seen one the other day near the beach, didn't have my camera or I'da snapped a pic or two... But it was like a 25ft pink tree. A awesome sight; indeed.

Do you have to rub it in!!!

Here we are stuggling with plumerias and you have such beauties. I am sure they are of different colours.

We will wait patiently for the photos of flowers, hopefully in 6-8 weeks??!!

What is the palm tree in the foreground in the second photo?

Thanks.

Yes Sir. They're all different colors. I too can't wait for blooms. I'm not sure if the first year cuttings will bloom, but the others will. ...That would be one of a pair of probably 25ft queen palms. They're as old as my house; I'm sure... The original owners probably planted them... Strange to see them being how's I'm surrounded by 100+ y/o oaks all over in the neighborhood... Thanks fer askin'...

SeaSun - Do what we do! Go to the San Bernadinos Mts. for a few hours to play in the snow during winter and then come home and tend your roses!

two of my plummies

The large one still has no inflos ={ But it is the one I said I pulled out bare root this winter for rare freeze. I expected a little set back. The small of is growing fine but I think i am gonna have to cut the castor beans away so it can get more light. Will post when blooms. Gladys

Gladys yours look great! I have two growing in my yard and they are just starting to get a few leaves on them. We had a few weeks of rare overnight temps in the 20's last year so maybe they didn't handle it very well. I probably lost a third of my tropicals around my house, come to think of it. Keep rooting for my little leaves!

Beautiful and healthy plumerias. The plastic pink is one of these two or a third one? In any case I am sorry you lost it.

Are Castor flowers beautiful and fragrant?

Thanks for the photos.

The plastic pink was a third one. The two pictured are pics I took yesterday. I haven't really noticed if the castor flowers are fragrant. my first year planting them and I've been down and not able to spend time with my yard plants. The foliage os gorgeous, Deep maroon and big leaves. you can't see them so well in the pic. because I have been cutting the lower leaves to get sun to the plummie. If I am able I will take a pic of them for you tomorrow. They get very tall. Little care. But remember they are poison , like so many other plants. They are actually used to make ricin , or so I have heard. Thank you, Gladys

Thanks Gladys47.

yes, from the picture I can see they are very beautiful leaves. And I know ricin is extremely potent. It got the name from Ricinus communis(castor plant).

My two little plumerias are showing good signs of activity at the tip. I will try to get some close ups tomorrow and post them here. I hope they survive.

wow!!!

I did not know they grow to be that high. I guess the whole yard would have been smelling of the fragrance.

I hope your little stumps grow well. Please keep us posted.

My two little stumps are showing some actvity at the tips. Will add the photos a bit later.

Oh Yeah, I see them like that around the beaches all the time. Rarely inland where I live though... Next time I'll get a shot or two at the main trunk. These are real trees! I mean the texture of the plant is completely different at these ages... And yes, we could smell it as we walked up to it! Very Cool; Indeed.

Thanks LeftCoastAngler.

I will be very happy if the ones I have grow up to 2 metres (6.5')

I am more interested in the fragrance.

Here are the photos of the old plumeria( it is really growing well) and the two new stumps that show some growth at the tips.

Nice pikevi. New growth looks alien-like; don't you agree! Mine always look like that in the Spring. They develop a sap like substance on the tips during dormancy aswell... It dries up in the Spring and out comes the new growth... Like a cloudy, milky sap... Probably Frangi-Blood!

The bigger the tree, the more inflos & flowers, means BIGGER fragrance!
