Garden Scenes in KY

It is peak daylily bloom season so thought I would share some of the color at our house. This is the view from my sunroom where I have my coffee each a.m. and plan the day.

From the sunroom deck

Still from the deck

And more from the deck

Hey, Brooke, every now and then (especially when I see pictures like yours), I miss Ky. I went to UK - graduated in '70. In '68 we got tickets to see Peter, Paul & Mary in Louisville. It started snowing 2 days before the concert and nearly everything was closed on the day of the concert. We drove, along with another couple, on a closed interstate (just went around the barriers) from Lexington to Louisville, then back again on the same closed interstate. Never saw another car - duh! GREAT concert. Good memories. Beautiful property you have.

Beautiful yard, is all that land beyond your garden beds yours also? Love it! I love day lillies and have about 2 dozen different types in my garden. Only a few have opened so far.

With a view like that I might never leave the deck . My plans for the day might just be" stay right where I am and enjoy the view."

Now that's a yard! No ugly buildings to ruin the view. Nice. What i love most is the spaciousness of it. You can get lost in that yard and forget about the rest of the world.

Thanks everyone - glad you liked the tour.

April we have seven acres.

Margaret the sunroom gets too warm in the afternoon because it faces west. We move to the deck in the yard under the trees for our afternoon beverage(s).

Jim the pond was the first thing we did when we decided to "garden" years ago. We don't have any of our first generation fish left but still have some of the second generation in the pond plus lots of the grandkids.

It looks like a little slice of heaven. Fishes too, and afternoon drinks. Sounds idyllic.

Do they really have blue grass in KY? Or do you have to have several KY Bourbons to make the grass look green?

That is beautiful Brooke . I use to live in Louisville. I have a nephew that lives close to Louisville now. I think Ky is so pretty, I have always loved it. You have done a wonderful job on your yard, alot of hard work but fun, HuH???

Ken it would probably help most people to see the blue in bluegrass but the natives can see it.

It is a lot of work but it was fun putting it all together. Now we are going to reduce the size of it. It is time to reduce the work load just a wee bit
