Ceropegia distincta

Last summer a friend of mine sent me some cuttings from some of his plants .One surprised me last day with unususl flower shape. I find in the net the name of this plant. Ceropegia distincta var Haygarthii . Interesting trap, isn`t it?

I think it is not carnivorous plant . Ceropegias are succulent plants from subfamily Asclepiadaceae . I have read that the trap is just for attracting insects, wich will polinate flowers in this way . By the way the hairs on the top part are so fine , they move from the light flow of the air constantely .

Not carniverous, but the flowers are traps for pollinators in a similar way that slipper orchids are traps.

The string of pearls and the string of hearts both have similar flowers and are fairly easy to find. And they are fun little plants.
