Vivariums.....anyone?

Would like some input. I've finally had an idea for my 24 gallon flat back hex build. I just started sketching it out. Center piece and branches will be cork slab and cork tubes. Different length cork tubes for dimension. Tank is 24 inches long, 21 inches high. 12.5 inches at the deepest and 8 at its narrowest. The tree butresses will be angled in more. My sketch shows them against the back of the tank in error. It's either going to house Phyllomesa tomopterna or some thumbnail dart frogs. Any planting suggestions would be great. I have several Tillandsia already for it. I have a bromelia & pup but its gotten big. Now sure how I may incorporate it.

Wow! So many possibilities. Some of my tabletop greenhouse orchids: Lepanthes (and other minis in the Pleuro group), Psygmorchis Pusilla, Haraella rectrocalla, Encyclia garciana, Masdevallia nicaraguae, Ornithophora radicans, Cirrhopetalum auratum

You could also have:
corsican mint
Different types of mosses
Small coffee trees
small ferns

I would recommend checking out Black Jungle, a terrarium supply store for ideas. I stumbled upon it once when looking up cultural information for one of my plants.

Not so sure now about the mint. Would the oil hurt an amphibian or deter the insects you feed them? I love this little mint in my pots and mini gardens but it is a strong one (sort of like pennyroyal).

What a great idea. I have a 10 gallon aquarium I made into an orchidarium. Wanted to make it a vivarium but had a hard time finding the frog I wanted. Then found out thru Petco that the frog I wanted wasn't allowed in Maine. Maine has some laws about importing exotic critters. So I ended up making into a fairy garden. Also put in just enough charcoal to cover the bottom and then a layer of something like aquarium gravel over the charcoal.

Finally, I am able to grow some of the orchids that need a lot of humidity.

Don't forget the fan and lighting. Can't wait to see the finished set up.

This is on FB and if you like the weird and unusual orchids this group has them. Also some of the people show how they built their orchidariums.
