Cym Chen's Ruby - warm tolerant Cym

This post is to show one of the several warm tolerant Cymbiniums that are coming on the market and which we can flower in Florida.

Cym Chen's Ruby is blooming this month.

The post is also a test to see how photos post from outside our gallery, which is all I have been using before. The gallery still seems to be out of order.

Jerry,
The syntax is You needed to close your brackets before the url and open them again after it.

ie.

Beautiful flower.

I have this one. Mine is a small division and I have it outside for the summer. It is putting out new growth so it must like it.

I am hopeful that I will get blooms this year. Love the colors!

I just got one from Parkside Orchids. It's monstrous and has 4 spikes! Looks like it will bloom within a month. Tell me please, someone, what kind of fertilizer would be best? (30-10-10, 20-20-20, 10-30-20; etc.)

I dont' fertilize my Cymbids at all. They do just fine and perform well.

I find Cyms. are not very particular about fertilizers. Anything will do. I use what ever I have plenty of at the moment. Usually miracle grow and sometimes 3in1 rose feed. They have thrived even if I forget to fertilize for months at a time.

Yep.. I agree solay! I completely forgot to fertilize my cymbidiums and the one is starting to spike now.. I fed after.. LOL Figuring it would only give the plant more strength and nutrients..

Silkymoon

I have a couple left from last season and throughtout the year I never had any burth leaves even with temperatures in the 90s for the last two months.

I expect most of the blooming to be in Sept to Nov though.

I now have about 10 warm tolerant varieties of which 5 are really outstanding like this one.

Nut 'Red Beauty' is another favorite.

and the most fragrant I have ever handled
