Can Vandofinetia Blaupunkt be mounted on bark?

I have a V.b. that has outgrown its pot.
I have seen vandaceous orchids in baskets with bare roots. My orchid seems to want bare roots--it has lots of healthy ones. Will it hurt the plant to mount it on a piece of bark?
If I should re-pot it, what medium to use? I had been using orchid mix.
Thanks very much!

I have a Neo. falcatta Furan and a couple noid Neo's that I have mounted on grape wood and cork bark that seem to grow much better than the potted ones. That said if it was my plant I would try mounting and if the plant didnt seem to like it I would repot

It all depends on your growing environment. If you live in FL, where it's relatively humid, putting your Vandofinetia in a basket with no medium is fine. If you live where it's dry, you'll need some medium that can retain some moisture and will need to water daily -- once or twice a day. If you choose to pot it up, watering frequency decreases -- 2 to 3 times a week. Again, it depends on the potting medium and type of pot you use. If you choose to mount it, you may need to water every day.

I have a Blaupunkt in a basket. It's doing great: new leaves and roots are continuously growing! Used to have sphag in it, but it has mostly fallen out. So, it is pretty much mounted. It is watered nearly everyday and has good humidity. It flowered this spring, too. Like Arlene said, it still depends on your environment. If you live in a very hot dry area and can't keep it watered or humid enough, it might not do well mounted.

Thanks to everyone

Thank you all for your help!
I have decided to try my Blaupunkt wired to a piece of bark in my West kitchen window. So far, so good. i live in Massachusetts, and we are having an extremely humid summer, much more than usual. So maybe it will work for a while and I will have to pot it again in the winter.

I'm not sure repotting it again once winter rolls around would be a good idea. Stress to roots can set the plant back, and it is okay if it dries out during the day. Mine does fine in the winter, inside, because I run a humidifier and I water it daily.
PS if you haven't smelled the blooms on these yet...you're in for a treat!

Yes, the fragrance is wonderful! It bloomed for me last year (after I purchased it online)
Today I added some damp sphagnum moss to the roots and re-wired the whole thing to the bark. It flowered last year during the dry months here in the Northeast, so I'm hoping it will again...

I have a couple of Tolumnias that I'm going to mount- I don't have a really good spot to grow mounts and only have one plant mounted, but the little Tolumnias ..I think I can fit under my lights in the basement on small mounts. It's hard here in the winter, as you said. I just don't think they'll like being on the windowsill come winter. I think it would be too cold next to the glass. Good luck with your mount- Let us know how you make out!

I will probably have to shift all my orchids around when daylight hours get shorter--usually my orchids spend the winter in my living rm which has a south exposure (shaded) and an east exposure. This is where there is the most light. I am going to try some of them upstairs in my son's room (north, east, and west exposures and a skylight) It's lacking a south exposure but my orchids seem to like it during the summer. We'll have to see.
I am thinking about getting a set of fluorescent lights (used to have one, got rid of it, wish i still had it because the smaller ones go for $200 and the large (2 shelves) for over $500. I don't have the money right now but if i don't buy any new fall clothes I will have enough, ha ha!
