Ellen is on a distinguished road
For anyone interested in pollinating a paph (or other slipper), there are very detailed instructions on how to do it on Troy Meyers' website: www.troymeyers.com. Once there, click on the "Informational Pages" button, then on "Pollination of the Slipper Orchids". Even if you don't want to flask the seeds, it's fun and instructive to see a pod grow, at least once. Why rely on chance if you can do it with a toothpick?

You've got a very nice Paph spike coming there, prisana. Here's a little "tell" that not everyone knows about: Many Paphs start a new growth at approximately the same time they spike. It looks like your Paphs is doing this. So keep en eye out for new growths and if you see one your Paph could possibly spike soon as well.

prisana, that's awesome. What kind of paph is this? The bud looks huge. Is this the first flower for this plant? I'm looking forward to seeing it's progress. Very excited here for you.

Kevin, That's very nice to know ( I'm creeping around my paphs right now lifting and peeking under all their leaves ) I'm very pleased with this paph, it just won't stop giving me surprises. First the spike and now a new growth, the other one I got at the same time came with a new growth but it's not growing as fast as this one. It's on steroids or something

Sandra : This one is Paph Oriental Lawrence ' Funnel ' x Luna Moth ' Mighty ' it will have pretty green flowers ( but only one per spike ) . I ordered this one little over a month ago for $10.00 . It's the first time a Paph starts its spike in my care so I'm on cloud 9 right now.
