Hello Surf dude, I treat my mini catts the same as the larger ones with the exception that they get watered a little more often because they are in smaller pots and dry out faster. I use clay pots and the same fir bark/charcoal/coir chunks/perlite mix, just a finer grade. Because catts grow as a sympodial rhizome (underground horizontal stem). The new growth is mostly in the front with the older growth concentrated at the rear of the rhizome.the older psuedo bulbs (back bulbs) may look more worn, may be smaller or slightly shriveled and may be leafless. the new bulbs and leaves will be somewhat larger than the older growth when mature. They start at the base of the previous psuedobulb and form one or two leaves followed by a spike of flowers or just roots depending on its blooming season. I hope this info was helpful; and do check out the culture sheets on cattleyas in this forum.
P.S. Catts like a snug fit for best flowering. I would only repot when the medium has really degraded or its overgrown the pot (numerous roots with nowhere to go or psuedo bulbs hanging over the edge of the pot.)
