this is what I have

I don't know where to buy potting mix antmore. I have a full bag of Schultz Orchid Mix"Exotic Potting Medium". It includes aged raw fir or pine bark & arcillite & horticultural charcoal. Special moisture and nutrient retaining formula. Also a bag of little volcanic nuggets from the old days. Could I use one or both to repot my two orchids?
Thanks, hortma

Hello fellow Michigander and welcome to the forums!

I haven't heard of that mix in particular, but Lowe's sells a pretty decent mix by Better-Gro (special orchid mix).

Do you prefer buying mix locally or online? Repotme.com has a pretty good selection, as does orchidmix.com.

I am also unfamiliar w/the first bag you mentioned but bark and charcoal are commonly used w/phals so that sounds like it would be fine.

The "volcanic rocks"...is it lava rock? If yes...that would be perfect for a Brassavola. I have a few/several catts in lava rock.

I have used the Schultz orchid mix and didn't have much success. I found it had alot of rocks and 'dust/particles' which would have required much rinsing. I found the amount of rocks was more than the bark, so I guess I had a rock mix. ;-)
