OK so I sent this foto to a friend who's wife happens to be Japanese. He is on the other side of the country from me but thanks to modern technology we instant messaged as his bride had a look at the picture of the bag. As much as she could make out the logo says "Western Orchid" and Cymbidium and Dendrobium are mentioned (at least she sent words that were spelled phonetically similarly sounding) on the bag. I asked if she saw anything that looked like it could be the word Vanda and they said no. I guess this information doesn't really help you know what the heck this stuff actually is. I guess you need someone who both speaks the language AND knows orchids. Good Luck! V

Does it feel like rocks? Or is it a soft(er) and porous material? I ask because if it's more like rocks...not porous so the water drains quickly rather than retains a lot of moisture...it could work for your Vanda.

To answer others, yes it is hard like rocks, And it doesnt seem to retain mosture when I water the Vanda. It seems to be doing good. The store is having something to do with orchids on Saturday. Kinda like a bunch of classes and all, I plan on going to it. Im just hoping that someone will speak english there, if not I guess I will just watch and hope to gain some knowledge by sight. They have a bunch of new orchids in, so I knowwwww Im going to buy some to bring home too. |
