LECA and fertilizing

When using LECA (NON S/H) can fertilizer be used at full strength, or is it necessary to use fertilizer at half strength?

My fertilizing formula is as follows:

1 gal. water from tap.
1 tsp. 20-14-13 Better Gro Orchid fertilizer.
1/2 tsp. pH Down, because the water supply where I live is very alkaline. When I test the pH it after adding the pH Down, it ends up between 5.5 and 6.
A few drops of Superthrive.

I water my phals every other day.

1/2 tsp to 3/4 tsp. MSU 19-4-23
1 tsp epsom salts
1 tsp. Maxicrop soluble seaweed powder
3cc vodka

Fertilize your Phals at 200ppm nitrogen when actively growing. Phals are moderate feeders. When using better grow you would do ok with about 3/4 teaspoon/gal.

I've never heard of adding vodka for plants. Why do you use it?

I read an article by a professional orchid grower who uses vodka in his plants, and ummmmmmm...several other members of another message board I frequent swear by it and have been using it for quite a while. Supposed to promote root growth & kill any bugs in the pot.

Ethanol is known to enhance the absorption of nutrient ions in plants. In fact, the concept is patented by Jerry Rodder, and was practiced in the form of Jerry's Grow fertilizers. Unfortunately, it was only proven to be effective in high-light plants. Jerry has since stopped producing it, due to the hazardous materials shipping issues.

I just can see myself and my orchids drinking vodka together.....
If only I can teach them how to have it straight like I do..........
