Best media for a neo?

I want to repot Neo. Lou Sneary "Bluebird". Just finished blooming, its in a bark mix now. I see them in sphag alot, and overpotted. Is that what they like? I use alot of different media so I understand the requirements of each. I grow in windowsill, bright light, good humidity. Looking for suggestions, thanks.

You can check on some of the other threads. there is a few for repotting them. I transplantted mine like the traditional Neos. I used a 6" pot with a3" pot inverted (upside down) inside the big pot, then wrapped the roots with Log fiber Spaghnum Moss. It seems to like it.

Most neo's that are potted the traditional Japanese style in the moss mound look to be over potted, but they are not! There is a cavity inside the moss mounds so the roots can breath. Some people put something in the middle to keep the cavity open like Tom mentioned he inverts a pot in the middle. I put packing peanuts in the center of mine to keep the cavity open, and I have seen Air Domes for sale on Ebay for the center cavity...here's the link: Neo falcata/Sedirea japonica Air Circulation Dome - eBay (item 280362467512 end time Mar-20-10 14:10:19 PDT)

Hope this helps!

I just simply grow them in coco fibre with a bit of stone. I do how ever like thoses little flat bonsai pots. Seems to suit them! Other than that I grow these just like any other. I have a very large verigated one, which I'll take a pic of a post it here!

Dependng on your own growing environment, you need to choose what's best for you. I grow mine in this ridiculous coco fibre that looks like doll hair. I admit that I'm available to water once a day or more often, which may not be suitable for everyone and their schedules. I swear, these guys can grow in almost anything!!

I treat my Neo. Lou Sneary like a vanda, growing them bare root, I have a Blue Bird in a 4" wood basket and another Lou Sneary in an 8" wooden basket. The one in the 8" over flowes the basket, it started in a 4"and after 7 or 8 years out grew in and the basket rotted out so moved to a larger basket. If I use any medium it is cocoanut fiber loosely around the base of the roots.

I do have some coco fiber (doll hair is a perfect description) but my wife will kill me if I tell her I have another chid that needs daily watering, the Vanda's are enough. I think I'll try the sphag mound...still not sure, sounds like it dosn't matter much.
