the wind blew everthing away

ok well now that i have move all my healthy looking orchids inside.....i had a major accident.......

a gust of wind came through my window and bow my orchid over ...... and broke all my new blooms off , *it almost made me want to cry.*
at the same time it knocked out all the medium that was in the pot.

freaked out and not very happy i cut the stalk thing the flowers where on just under where the last flower was and have now had to change the medium to bark and mos mixed with some stone too.........

does anyone know if this is going to be ok........well ther isn't really much i can do now cause i have already done it but if you can think of anything that would maybe help you i appreciate it .........

Well, if the fall did not break any leaves or separate any roots from the plant or break them, the plant will probably be just fine. if the plant did not get a chance to put much of its energy into the flowers it was developing (lots of buds yet), then the plant should have the will/hormones/energy/impetus to make more flowers. Now, I am assuming this is a Phal. Other orchids mostly don't rebloom.

no it was my new dendrobium emme pink (singapore orchid)but no, nothing else broke.....

thanx for the good news though, spose it can now put more energy and effort into the next bloom, although i think you said that she mite be from the northern hemospher and it's blooming season there so it could miss a bloom

well, i'll take care of her and make sure she stays alive, have afeeling the next bloom is going to be a good one, it looks like there are some new stalks about to grow and there is a smaller new cane growing, discovered from the fall and re-pot.

My orchids are grown outside, I get gale-force winds, racoons, squirrels, cats, my husband, you name it. One of my dens has been knocked down 3 times , the other one ,twice. Aside from the minor scratches and a couple of root-loss , they were fine. And everytime they fall.. the pots broke, but since they were already in new medium, I just stuff the whole rootballs that were still holding on to the medium in new clean pots, this way they are least disturbed. Every time this happens I wanted to scream, but once I collect myself..it's not all that bad. Take a deep breath.. I'm sorry about your flowers, though, I totally know how that feels.

thanx prisana that does easy my nerves a bit more....... i thought i mite be freaking out for nothing really. my problem wat i couldn't reuse the medium cause it was some wool type stuff with stone mix in it and was very dry and loose and was scattered all over my carpet and i didn't want to have bit's of hair and dirt that should not be there in the first place, who knows maybe it will do better in the bark / moss mix

we will just have to wait and see, she didn't seem to suffer any other injures i could see just my 7 beautiful blooms that probely had about 2 maybe could have pushed it for 3 months left to flower, oh well
