Sphagnum Moss

Hi all
I went for a drive today to show you all what sphagnum moss looks like in the wild.
in the third attachment you can see where I have grabbed some of the moss
it was about 20 feet up above the road and no room for error one can see just how high this stuff can grow.

attachments of sphagnum moss and they type of terrine it grows in
one can also see with the mountains where the snow line is

G'Day Fred

You must be a lot more sure footed than me, I'd break my neck. Very interesting though thanks for showing us.

Cheers
Bernie

Beautiful location but like Bernie, don't think I'd be harvesting it on my own. What is the flower growing by the sphag? Love the color!

Brooke all I know was its not an orchid
I was not game enough to take a close up
the last time I tried that was in winter and it was very wet I must admit I did try then and slid down but I was not that high then.
was it risky only when I got down and though about it

Thanks for posting Fred, very interesting! Are you in Tasmania? The terrain reminds me of the area around Cradle Mountain.
