| Parvisepalum in Semihydro?
Hello, So I am a paph fanatic, and soon to be phrag fan. My favorite subgenus is parvisepalum and I was wondering if anyone has tried growing them is semihydro, specifically primeagra? I recently am trying to shift to s/h and would like to see if they could go too... thanks! |

I have some Phrags in hydro, but only one Paph- It's one of my fairrieanum seedlings. So far, it's doing better than the others! I water/mist the s/h daily. I'm using Hydroton.

I had one paph with motled leaves I tried growing in S/H (I used hydroton) and it went spiraling to its death quite quickly.

Once again this points out that the moniker "semi-hydroponics" does not define the complete culture parameters, and is merely a combination of inert medium (of which there are many with a variety of property variables), pot with a reservoir, and constant moisture/nutrient supply. Whether a particular plant or type of plant does well for you involves a lot more cultural parameters than those. Every paph I have - including delenatii and Deperle - is thriving under my conditions in semi-hydro culture. A mottled - Paph Green Horizon: ![]() A strap - Paph In Shape ![]() A parvi - Paph Deperle

Thanks for all the advice everyone. Beautiful plants ray! I actually ordered from you ray several weeks ago, thanks again ray for the speedy delivery. I am in an apartment, so my vandas roots are looking real happy with all that moisture. One of my potinara's is also taking off. I really would like to switch some of all of my orchids into semihydro. I am mostly worried about armeniacum and micranthum, who like it drier in the winter. I saw that with primeagra it is not a good idea to let it dry out completely. I was wondering how to remedy these two issues. Thanks again everyone |

Hi Ray. Thanks for the photos, while I have no interest in trying "semi-hydroponics" . It sure looks good for the orchid. Often wondered what and how it was done. seems the 2 pin holes in the bottom are the answer! Interesting Ron |
