new to orchid

I recently repotted epidendrum orchid, and I was wondering if the mix I uses is ok. I uses half bark and half charcol for my mix, and the orchid is outdoor. I live in SF so it has a constanly cool temperture.

Is this a reedstemmed Epi? The tall reedy ones can take just about any culture. They are the wees of the orchid world. They can also take a lot of water. If it is a reedstem, and you planted it in a very course mix, you can water it a very often. Just don't worry about over watering like you would other orchids. But if it is very cold, you probably want the leaves to stay dry until some sun comes out. If it is not a reedstemmed Epi, we would need to know which Epi it is. Cynthia
