repotting cymbidiums

The potting medium in my cymbidiums has broken down quite a bit-it's been 2 years since I last repotted. (I used a large bark mixture, same as what they were grown in)

I got some 'large medium' EB Stone's Orchid mix thinking it was the right thing to buy, but when I opened it it is far more fine than the broken down mixture in my pots.

Wondering what to do. Mix it with larger bark or am I missing the boat about the larger bark being the right thing? Last time I repotted though, the roots were like very large white noodles, straight and perfect.

Obviously still a newbie....
Thanks for your advice!

2 years is very fast for the mix to break down even with bark.

Don't use that mix you bought, if you doubt it then so do I. Cymbidiums can take a lot of broken down mix and moisture but you want something fresh to give them a burst of growth.

Is it s big plant? Big roots? I personally use medium Orchiata bark with perlite and it works well for several years. You want a great bark mixed with the perlite..........maybe 50/50. Don't use the stuff you get at hardware stores, try getting some from a nursery if you have one close. Perlite should be very cheap. In fact you can grow them very well in 100% perlite if you want too. Just modify your watering to accommodate it.
