Phal. Seedling recommendation....

What media would you recommend for deflasked Phals? With my cattleya I've lost a lot to root rot when using sphagnum and had good results with coco husk chips. I see orchiata has a seedling bark mix.

The Orchiata would be a good choice but depends on your conditions. I suspect the Orchiata would be a good option for you.

I use sphag for all of my deflasked orchids including my Phals. Don't water the compot until it is dry on top, good air movement and plenty of light.

I have problems keeping seedling Orchiata damp enough for Phals in a 3" pot, let alone damp enough for the baby roots of Phals.

I went with sphagnum moss since I had some left over. I will be mounting some once they've been "broken in."
