Coir pot

Dear friends, I am planning to grow a Dendrobium keiki in a coir pot. What are the advantages and disadvantages of growing orchids in these pots. If good, what are the precautions to be taken before potting the orchid in the coir pot. please help.

If you're talking about the coir pots that are an alternative to peat pots...my concern would be that they will soon lose their rigidity and therefore, would not hold up over the long haul. If you are meaning a wire or wood basket with the coir liner and/or coco fiber medium, that should work perfectly fine. I frequently use coco fiber with orchids and they take to it very well.

Thanks Katrina for the info. It is a pot entirely made of coco peat. Will transfer to a clay pot.
