Hi everybody.I am new at the forum and I have some kind of problem with my Masdevallias.I bought them the last month and up to now I had no problem. They had many rotten roots and i desided to repot them in a new mix becouse the old one was too wet and did not allowed the roots to breathe. They looked happy and I have alot of new roots new growths and some new flowers. They had some black marks on the leaves but the last week I realised that they got more. Some of the leaves get rotten and some of them begun to fall down. I dont know If I do have this problem becouse of the temperature (23-24 d.Celsium) or becouse I had not good air circulation. I dont know If this a problem caused by fungus. If somebody knows something more please let me know. Thanks a lot Dom

That looks to be fungus and the plant needs to have more (a lot more) air circulation. I also suggest not getting the leaves wet.

Here are two more photos of the dropped leaves. I hope they are going to help someone to let me know what is going on. Thanks Dom

my two cents: the first set of pictures the leaves looked very wet with puddles of water. I presume you water from above the plant. The leaves need to dry quickly. If you water as I suspect, then do so in the morning and provide a lot of air circulation so the leaves can dry. If practical to your situation, try watering at the "soil" level and not wet the leaves. Nick |
