Diseased please help

I have several orchids which have been so healthy and good to me! Someone gave me some orchids for free from a green house which I wish I had refused (lesson learned). Can someone please tell me what disease I have and how to remedy it? Thanks.

I agree with fred - it looks like it could be mites. Review the link Fred provided.

Also, can you please go to your User CP and edit your location. This is always helpful information (location) when providing input for treatments and remedies.

I use Safer Soap for mites and other peskies. Many members at OrchidGeeks have used Brookn's recipe with great results.

Brookn's recipe: 10 drops dishsoap,1/2 tsp. cinnamon extract, and 2c. tepid water

Easy treatment, but pain in the keester. Be sure to treat again within the week or they will come back. I recommend quarantine and if the plant(s) came in contact with other plants then you should treat the whole collection for prevention.

I'm regrettably going to disagree that your plant has mites. Without really seeing a close up, that very much looks like thrips. I say regrettable because this is fast spreading and deadly. I had a rude awakening with these beasts just a couple of months ago and lost a beautiful, huge Dend. By the time I realized what I was dealing with, it was far too late. I treated it with the suggested, systemic sprays but by then.....too late. The first thing you should do is quarantine this plant. Keep it far, far away from your others and begin treating it. It may not be too late (if it is thrips...I really do hope, not.

Here's a pic I grabbed off a google search for you to compare with your plant. I didn't take pics of my infected Dend. I was too grief-stricken.

Again, take these infected plants and quarantine!!!!

zdonna - please note that my suggestion of mites and any other suggestions. are not definitive in anyway. We are all offering suggestions... things you could look in to.
So we have thrips and mites... any other thoughts?

Wash it with soapy water and sees what happens.

To me it looks like copper stains from a regular spraying. Most of the plants I buy have these stains and wash right off.

If there are indents in the leaves, that I can not see in the photo, then you may have insects. It is just that insects usually do not leave the tops of your leaves looking so good.

It looks like insect damage BUT it could also be chemical residue since the plant came from a greenhouse. I would recomend giving the plant a good wash with brookns recipie and see what happens with it, just remember to retreat in a week as a preventive
