| Media Infestation Hi everyone. I've been a forum lurker for some time, and finally have something to post - ask, actually. I have a blooming brassada, only about a month in my possession, which for the past 2 weeks I've noticed has small (1/4 inch or so), white centipedes or millipedes in the pot media (bark). I've only noticed them when watering, as they come up for air. I've seen about six or so after each watering. I am hesitant to treat the media, so I've been plucking out what I see. I don't think they are directly harming the plant, as the flowers, leaves and root system all seem to be healthy. I do think, however, that these pests are accelerating the media breakdown, as I get a lot of fine particle dropout from the bottom of the pot.
I have a couple of questions. Is it safe to treat the media and, if so, with what? I'm leaning toward repotting the plant after it finishes blooming, so is it possible/advisable to treat the roots? If so, with what?
I welcome any answers, comments or questions. |
