I think it looks like scales. Especially if the top of the leaf has raised spots. I could be wrong. Can you scrape off the bumps? If so, it's scales.

Those spots look like a bacterial infection, probably caused by bugs. I would give it a thorough cleaning with peroxide, and look for bugs. You may lose the leaves if this begins to spread. Keep a close eye on those spots, and cut them out if they begin to get worse. Have you had water sitting on the leaves at all?

Solay have you seen scale that are brown like that? Mine are all kinda whitish brown, but are only on a tree in the back yard.

Yes. I get white and brown ones. The brown ones are bumpy and crusty. You can scrape them off with your nails. Eeewww!!! They will leave dents too or clear trasparent spots where they've sucked on the leaves.

I'll take a picture of them when I get a chance. I get them on the underside of my Cyms. Especially in the summer.

Looks like Mesophyll cell collapse. Leaving standing water on the leaves or using cold water can cause it.

Standing water and a cool nights breeze can cause cold damage.

Over spray from a cleaner?

Heh heh then I'll cast a second vote for bacterial infection...but still blame it on wet and cool conditions.

You'll need a good bacterialcide. Physan at 12 tbs/gallon is good Hydrogen peroxide, and even cinnamon can help.

I don't know how badly the infection is but if it is just on the one leaf I would consider sacrificing the leaf and cutting it back to healthy tissue with a sterilized knife; then spray the cut with the Physan or peroxide and/or dust the wound with cinnamon.

You know...looking at your pictures again. Are the underside edges of the leaves weeping little droplets of sap?

If so, you got critters my friend!!

It look almost like white fly bites. I have a Den that has this pock mark on it and I noticed a white fly buzzing around sucking the life out of my poor baby. Wasn't nothing that a fly swatter, and some Bayer 3 in 1 couldn't handle.

I guess flies like their vegies too! But yes, some flies will bite the leaves, suck the juice and even lay eggs in the leaves. (UGG and YUK! )

Hummm...Well, whatever it is. I think you might need to spray or operate. Maybe I'm seeing things but isn't there bumpy scabby spots on the top of the leaves. I know the bottom has indented spots.

I believe there are 2 things going on here. The first is some sort of initial leaf damage probably through bites form insects like mites. The second is some kind of secondary infection, probably bacterial as some have suggested. So:
1) treat with a good reliable insecticide
2) treat with Physan or another bacteriocide
3) provide excellent culture and increase the airflow around your phal.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

I agree with Kmarch diagnosis. I have been very successful in stopping the infection by using Captan or Dithane M-45 mixed to the consistency of a thick paste and painting it on with a small brush. I leave it on for at least two weeks because it creates a barrier against disease. It's like a good coat of paint that stops decay

I recognize those spots! I had ONE on my phal. It was exactly the same as your spots. I kept my eye on it, and after a few days or so, it turned from a grey to a dark brown/black and seemed to dry up. I still don't know what it was!
