Baaaaaarrrrrf - Snails

I found a snail (one of those tiny ones) on the bark of my Paph Pinocchio 'Otonio' x etc. I'm not a squeamish person - except when it comes to snails and especially slugs. Don't know why; they just disgust me. Anyway, this one was tiny enough that I didn't faint or otherwise embarrass myself; I just sprayed it with my peppermint insecticidal soap and it obligingly died.

I then took the plant out of its pot and soaked it the insecticidal soap mixture; removed the old potting mix (the one it came in; not my mix, thanks be); washed the roots under running water (which were in good shape; lots of thick strong roots and no dead or rotted ones); soaked the roots and repotted in a new pot with new medium.

Is there anything else I need to do to make sure I'm snail-free? This plant lives indoors next to other plants, but its pot does not touch any others; do I need to be vigilant for further snail intruders?

I'd do another one of those soap washes once a watering for at least a couple more times That'll cure it.

Soak the pot up to the rim, snails have trouble breathing under water and will come up for air, and ZAP !!!

LEAVE IT FOR UP TO ABOUT 1/2 AN HOUR just be to sure there are no more caught in the potting mix.

You're probably safe now!

I've never found a snail in any of my pots but last year, hanging out where my orchids are growing, was a big mother millipede...I mean huge, big and fat! I still haven't gotten over it.

Some of the supermarket brands of beer come in packs of 12 for the price of a pulled pint at the bar

Tastes like fizzy water mind, 2%, but worth trying for the price, it sure ain't for drinking

Snail bait works well for me. I just sprinkle around the growing area and in areas they like to hide in. There's also Deadline which is a black liquid that they can't cross.

I had one of these nasty suckers, a bush snail - I'm not sure putting out a beer trap in my living room would work! I guess what I mean is, I really hope it wouldn't work!!
