Problem with my Dendrobium kingianum

Help!! I bought this Dendrobium kingianum at the San Diego Orchid Show in early April. All the new growth (LOTS of new growth) has this terrible pattern on it's leaves. There are no signs of snails, slugs or other insect. I sprayed it with a cinnamon type spray like I do all my new plants as a precaution. The effected leaves are dry and beginning to feel crispy. I moved it into the sun just for the picture; it is normally in filtered sun and I have kept it well watered. We did have a heat wave a week ago and it hit 100 degrees but it was in the shade for that day.

I am new to Dendrobiums and I'm out of my comfort zone here. I've never seen anything like it on a Phal or Cymbidium.

This is SO upsetting!!

Oh Good HEAVENS Brooke!! That would be because I never posted a picture. Took the pictures....down sized the pictures.....wrote the note....didn't post the shots. Sometimes I REALLY wonder about myself; it would be helpful if I started drinking and would at least have an excuse!

Thank You for bringing it to my attention!

Is it just on what is pictured? It looks like some other pics I've seen of water getting on the leaves, and the light getting magnified and burning them. New growth is more tender and susceptible. My only other guess is maybe a bug?

As for the pic, no problem, I just blamed stress .

I would agree - I know you said you didn't have it in the sun but it LOOKS like sunburn. When trying to aclimate my plants to outdoors for the summer I have done this by giving them too much light too soon.

Connie~ I would have to say that there was a lack of SPF 50 on them babies. It looks like a case of burn.

It very much looks like a sun burn on those leaves. If they begin to yellow somewhat, I'd bet the farm! I'm just not 100% sure though because of the pattern it's taken on but, I'm going with too much sun, especially, if they were exposed to intense sun suddenly and not gradually.

It looks like sunburn on wet leaves. Leave them until they die or drop as the live tissue still benefits the plant.

Thanks everyone! It has not been in direct sun but probably was greenhouse grown before I got it and it went straight outside when I got it home. It is only the baby leaves and the pattern does look like water. I'm sure it is not a bug, so the concensus says sun! Thanks again!

It's surprising how fast a wet leaf can burn and do so with relatively little direct light. Softer leafed orchids like a phal, when wet, can burn in a matter of a few hours.

Kevin it was well over 90 by 10 am and it was sitting on a tiled barbeque/bar area that probably reflected heat and light really well after I drenched everything out there.
