is this bulb rot?

Hi, I joined this forum to find out what I have going here with my Odcdm. 'Tiger Crow' I have a healthy looking plant that flowers frequently, but it has two Pseudobulbs that have shriveled and flattened, and one that is large plump , but soft and rotten, the rest ( 6) are normal, any advice?

Hello and welcome to the forum. A few bits of info:

1) It's normal for these bulbs to be somewhat flattened on these hybrids so the flattening isn't cause for concern.

2) The name of the plant is Odontocidium Tiger Crow (no quotes around the last part).

3) Your statement, "and one that is large plump , but soft and rotten" is concerning. This bulb should probably be cut off as this kind of rot can spread fast.

Can you post any pics? It may help us give better advice.

too much water, root rotted. this rot will spread. cut the roted ones away very carfully
without any of the "juices" drip onto the media(you need to take the whole plant out).

Thanks for the replys. I did take the plant out and I think I had it over potted as the mix was soggy at bottom third of pot. I will repot in a pot that's not so deep, and use fresh bark, as the old mix smelled musty.

I think that the soft rotted bulb is just an old bulb and has been caste of by the plant. I would not do any thing different from what you have been doing, but you may want to cut the bulb off with a sterile tool and dust the cut with cinnamon.

As Cynthia said its more then likely the bulb as run its course. I would still repot to the smallest size pot that will allow for one years new growth. Make sure you use a fast draining mix. When you take the plant out to repot, I would cut off the old bulb, them sprinkle cinnamon on the cut to keep it safe from infection. Reduce the light for a week or two then let it grow.
