| Yes it looks like a blast. Did you change the location of the plant after it spiked? I had 01 Den that had spiked & about 15 cm long. My itchy hand went to change its old location, thinking it will be better for the plant - Bang boom it blast. |

| I've never grown Vuylstekeara but I did grow an Odontocidium that had a spike blast similar to your Vuylstekeara. Upon closer examination I discovered I had soft brown scale. Check your plant for hidden scale.

| It's beautiful. I think we all know bud blast. I have a Cattleya intermedia that had two buds. It's on my windowsill. The bud closest to the window blasted on a very cold night, while the other bud is getting larger and is beginning to show a little pink color. Sometimes it doesn't take much. |
