Two Bug(?) Questions

Happy New Year, all!
Just home after two weeks away to find that all the blossoms on one of the spikes of my Onc. Sharry Baby are falling. The blossoms aren't shriveled, and the plant looks healthy, and the other two spikes are holding their blossoms well. I figure this has to be a bug, but I can't see anything. Any ideas what to do???

Also, I've discovered (even before I left mid-December) several stinkbugs on different plants... the name is rather vernacular, I know, but these guys are sort of pentagonal and hard-shelled, about 1/2 inch (1.5cm) long. They stand pretty still and can easily be squished (by the unsqueamish). I can't find one to photograph today, of course, but if anyone can fathom what I'm talking about, do you know if these guys hurt orchids??? They ARE on the plants for some reason, I figure... What to do???

THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

Your Sharry Baby is probably just going through the normal process of life - quite frequently one spike will be out of sequence somewhat with another - was the spike blooming when you left? 3-4 weeks of blooms for a spike would not be abnormal. I doubt it is bug related.
Stink bugs find their way inside seeking warmth, but are not likely to actually cause any harm to your plants. I'd just dispose of them if you see one and don't give them another thought.

Thanks, Mike (again!). I think you're right on... on both counts. But I've never seen stink bugs discussed on the forum.
