| Problem with Dendrobium Hello orchid fans ! I coming from Croatia, I hope my english is good. I´m new here, and I have problem with my Dendrobium. I bought him on saturday, and day before yesterday I detect vertical rut on the biggest bulb. What is this? Is that a disease? |
| ||||
| Yes! 2 to go! And that includes Smiley faces. Do you know anything about my problem. I´m deeply worried for my Dendrobium. I have 17 more orchids, but I bought that one this weekend, and it is so beautiful!!!! |

| rut as dent in the pseudobulb? most probably humidity too low for the plant. Water the plant might help. Check your humidity and temperture. Please don't overwater the plant. L et it recover slowly. watering in your area will be different from my area. at 29C and 80% humidity i water every other day depending on the weather. You might also need humidity tray below the pot. Don't let the root touch the water. Hope this help you |

| Well...this plant is at my home only 5 days, I have 3 more Dendrobiums, and they are ok. So, I dont now if humidity is problem. I´m watering every 10-14 days because it is winter here. I´m certain that rut occur the day after I have watering Dendrobium. |

| Welcome to the forum! Your English is good so far! This small split in your Dendrobium cane is nothing serious, nothing to worry about. It can be caused by growing very fast.

| Thank you I´m so happy to hear that is not some desease, I was seriously concern. What will I do next? Must I prevent water to get at that place? |

| It looks like the split has already dried out, which is good. You could try to keep water off but do not worry if some gets on it. I do not think it will harm it.

| Thank you all, you assure me it will be ok about that rut. But this weekend leaves on the smallest bulb become yellow |

| Those are near 3 year old leaves, and it is normal to lose leaves at about that age and at this season. However, it is always a good idea to be checking the underside of leaves regularly with a strong magnifying glass, or even better, use a 4 or more power jewelers loupe. Find some strong light when you look. It will make the job much easier. I believe there is a 'sticky' in the disease section on mites.
