| What's goin on with my Dendrobium!?!? it looks like a rot has affected one of the new budding growths. the weird thing is that it is also affecting one of my piture plants a few inches away. my guess is that the water went septic so i changed it. i also isolated the plants so they couldn't spread it since it seems comunicable. some of the parts are black or brown. the tissue is sort of soft. on my piture plant i cut off the infected leaf and threw it away, but the dendrobium is just a little budding sprout. i removed some of the infected leaves, but i couldn't get all of them for fear of killing it. what should i do? |

| If you have soft brown tissue on your Dendrobium it could be a bacterial rot. It;s difficult to tell without pictures or a more thorough description though. If it is bacterial rot, it must be cut away as soon as possible as it can spread quickly.

| the new growth is from a samll keiki from the larger plant. the original plant had recently lost all its leaves adn then the small keiki sprouted. soon after (about a month or so) it started to turn brown and mushey. the leaves started to get infected quickly. now the entire thing is probably dead. i will try to get a pic on here asap. maybe tomorrow. |

| i am pretty sure it was a fungal issue, but not entirely certain. it did kill the entire keiki and the den lost all leaves, but the pseudobulbs are still green, so there's still hope.
