Hard to tell from the pic - it looks more red than gray? Is it soft or firm? If rot is involved it will turn soft and spongy.

Probably not, since all three pseudobulbs in the picture show the same 'colouration' . It is not a knowledgeable observation.. just a guess

It is reddish brown irregular shape surrounding some whitish center. It is dry almost like a scab. What can it be? Also I seem to observe some dirt like black specks on some of the leaves. Some come off when I rub it but some seem to have been embedded into the leaves.

This is my first catt. so I am a little paranoid.

If it were rot it would be black and mushy. It looks more like a bite or nibble.

it will turn brown. pseudobulb orchid will turn soft and brown and mushy . You need to pull everything out left only with the roots. Cut the diseased away and replant the healthy into another pot and cut back on water. This happen to me where i stay in the tropics. my advise might not work for you.

if it is rot it will turn a tan color and will be soft and watery, if you dont cut that part out right away it will spred very fast and the plant will die, but what you have looks more like healed damage.

An orchid getting a lot of sun may show that kind of red coloration.

It looks like they were trying to give you instructions on how to treat rot. You need not worry about it because i (and several other members) don't think you have rot. Most likely it is a "scar" from some sort fo insect nibble.

Thanks guys for the feedback. The scar is not spreading and I rubbed some cinnamon on it just to be safe.
