Fungi :(

Just found fungi on my hydroponic paph. After spotting the small amounts of white fluff on the hydro balls I had a closer look. One root was covered, I've removed it.

An old leaf touching it had gone manky so i removed that too. Worst of all though was one of the new grows had half rotted. The fungi looks pretty set in.

I've removed the hydro pot from the water pot so it can drain and dry abit. I'm out today so I will try and fix it today, I'm not sure if we have any fungicide, any other ideas would be very much appreciated.

Tom,
I not trying to discourage growing in hydroponics, but 2 of the long time orchid
growers that are in the orchid society that i belong to are moving away from
growing this way after having done so for a few years. They were having similar
fungus problems and one of them grows primarily Paphs and is one of the best
growers in our area. He is experimenting with a new media using fine to medium bark, lava roc, med charcoal, sponge roc and a small amount of
ground oyster shell.

For me, It maybe isnt the right option. The plant has obviously got too wet. I've potted it up in the hydrotons but in a normal pot. This will mean it can dry out abit inbetween waterings.

Theres still a few growths left, and some roots, so with abit of luck It'll flower next year.

I think it will be ok. Shame to lose the roots and the little growth, but it has two more and still some good roots.

Gonna keep it slighlty dryer than usual.

And I will order some Physan 20!
