My Cattleya needs help!

About 4 months ago i got a new Catteleya orchid. it grew flowers and a new plant shoot. the flowers died after about 2 weeks (as they do) and the shoot kept growing nicely. but then it stoped growing. it went brown and rotted away. Will my plant grow a new shoot and what happend to the shoot that died?

If it has more viable eyes, it will start another growth, usually within a month or so. There is likely something wrong in your culture that stressed the plant. Either not enough light or the plant got to cold or too hot, or some other upsetting condition. I have this happen once in a great while even tho I have reasonably good conditions. It may also be a one time response to adapting to your growing conditions.

"As they do?" Viper, Cattleya flowers last much longer than 2 weeks. Something is odd here.... Are you sure you have a Cattleya? What does the tag say?

Could still be the change. But keep an eye open for any other stressor,

I have some Catt species that have flower life spans close to 2 weeks. Mostly 3 weeks to 3 & 1/2. For me, only the heavy textured ones go much longer. I have a Catt Star Kissed from Stewart Orchids from years ago that have flowers lasting 2 or 3 months, till I am tired of looking at them.
