orchid pest

hi,
just getting familiar w/your site. I seem to have a pest problem that I'm trying to identify. I've found small light brown scale-type insects on several different plants. They come off easily, but the plant has started to wither away beginning w/one leaf. I never seem to find any critters on the lower, withered leaf, but see a few on the good leaves & take them off. Any advice would be appreciated.

thank you

Mary

If a plant needs energy, it will suck one of it leaves dry. I am sure the scale is the reason. Treat all your plants with Bayer Advanced Rose and Flower ready mix, or us their 'Tree & Shrub', and mix it to get the same amount of imidaclopride as in the Rose and Flower. This stuff is systemic, so adding the solution to the pot also is good, and repeat this a couple of time over several weeks. This works well on scale, which is not the case for many other pestacides.
