| Just like janet said - the plump hard ones are the ones you want. Dried flat or stringy, and/or mushy ones should be removed. If you mounted your phal and it is not in a greenhouse-like environment you will probably need to water it daily (have not done this myself - but going on what I've heard). Someone in our society has all their phals mounted, but they are in a humid greenhouse. Good luck - mike |

| SeaSun88 - I have two mounted (very small) orchids, not phals, on a small slab and it is quite a challenge to keep them watered properly. Unless you are very close to the beach you will need to be very diligent with San Diego weather. If you live inland, forget it! Phals are gorgeous on a slab if you can get them to take hold. I wouldn't attempt it without a greenhouse considering our climate.
