Holes on Leaves with Threadlike Fibers

My orchid plant has penny sized holes on the leaves with threadlike fibers in the middle. Also, the leaves are turning yellow. My plant is labeled Yu Pin Giant x (P.Join Diamond x Dtps. Casablanca Joy x P. Talda Pinlong) I was hoping someone might know what could be wrong with my plant. Thanks.

It sounds to me like something took a big bite out of your leaf. I assume you're growing it outdoors?

No, I am growing it indoors next to my patio window. It is not receiving direct sunlight either.

Hmmm...ok. 99.9% of the time when you suddenly find a big hole in a leaf, the culprit is some kind of chewing insect like a grasshopper. that's why I assumed you were growing outside. It's still probably an chewing insect of some sort...or....could it be a mouse?

No, I don't have any mice where I'm keeping it.

It just may be worth haveing alook at the potting media you plant is potted in ?.

have you inspected the leaves ?

i am not saying you have them but look for a light green catapiller on the leaves.

or for any bugs in the potting media.

Could be a snail or slug, too.
