little silk webs?

i should know this, but what kid of critter leaves little silky threads on the plants? i can't see a bug; they're not like spider webs, but i know it's something, and i probably don't want whatever it is hanging around on the plants... thx.

Janet, I'm afraid that is spider mite, sometimes the only visible sign is the fine web...Look at Cynthia's post here:

yep. I had the same thing. I blasted the little buggers. Good luck.

They take on the form of little birds, of lizards, of insects, a man, a woman, sometimes like a clown who excites our laughter. They represent the image of a lazy tortoise, a melancholy toad, an agile, ever-chattering monkey. Nature has formed orchid flowers in such a way that, unless they make us laugh, they surely excite our greatest admiration." Jacob Breynius

yeah, after i made that post i looked around some more and found the spider mite discussion.

but then i went and grabbed a 10x lens and a couple of the plants in question and got up close and personal with them under a 100 watt bulb, and frankly didn't see anything. nothing moving, no stippling, but i think i'll crack out the neem oil and spray the collection this weekend anyway.

interestingly enough, the plants that have the webs are the ones i've been misting with worm tea. i've noticed they also attract a lot more dust than the non misted plants do, so this is something i'll have to consider in the future when spraying.
