What are these little green bugs?

My new plant has bugs, they are little and green. Does anybody know what they are and if they are harmful?

Wait, they are aphids aren't they? And, I would imagine they are harmful, guess I better break out the pesticide.

I agree...aphids!

Not to worry...they are easy to eradicate and heavy pesticides are not necessary in this case. Un-pot and wash the plants in some mildly soapy water...leave them to soak for awhile in the soapy water...then rinse well and pot them up in fresh medium.

Yup, aphids and usually easy to deal with.

I hope so too, I finally got the Phalaenopsis mites under control and the numbers of fungus gnats are starting to dwindle, I definitely do not want an explosion of aphids next. But, it seems like aphids are considerably easier to control than either of the other little monsters.

The oncidium I was given for my B-day ended up having aphids too, from the same place you got your plants. I sprayed it with the Bayer Rose spray and that was the end of them. I'm going to send them an e-mail if this is the case, letting them know.

Yes seek and distroy! I just got over a bout with them and they about distroyed 9 flask baby pans of seedlings. I found 3 again on a compot of Paphs the other night hopefully its the last I see of them and hopefully the baby's survive from the bites. They get a weird bacterial infection from aphids that wipe out the baby plants and quick. Thanks to Kat and Brooke I was able to get them under control and gone quickly. But not with out some loss unfortunatly
