Is this normal or a virus/infection?

So I stopped by Lowes and saw they had a new shipment of 'chids in. They had some intergenerics in and I thought I might try one...
A Beallara Patricia McCully 'Pacific Matriarch' to be precise. I took it out of the bag to inspect it (always do anymore) and noticed it has some black speckling on the bulbs and leaves. I wanted to know if this was normal or if this particular plant had a virus/infection of some sort?

I haven't bought it yet. Thought it better to ask than to bring it home and rue the day.

Many of my oncidium alliance plants get dark spots on the leaves when they have been outside, where they get more light than indoors. However, the spots don't extend to the bulbs. That said, I don't have a Beallara.

There was another thread about this plant and discolored p-bulbs:

I do not grow Oncidiinae, but from what I've read, it is normal to get those spots on the leaves, kinda like freckles. But I don't think that's your case, because the spots are on the pseudobulb too. I don't know, have you checked for spider mites?

No, I didn't really look. I don't actually have it. I just saw it for sale at the store. I guess I will leave it be. Thanks for the input everyone

That's pretty normal. I've had that on some plants I've bought; seems to come about from poor air circulation. I grow outside, and those plants don't develop that on the new growths. If you buy it, clean it up with insecticidal soap (3 parts alcohol 1 part water + 1-2 tbs dishwashing soap) and give it really good air circulation.

Looks like mite damage, especially the yellow/whitish speckling on the leaves.

Yeah, it's scar tissue probably from mite or scale attack. Looks like you still might have some critters on the leaves.
