First Dendrobium, I have spotted leaves??

Hi All,
I am new to this forum -- started growing orchids last year. I purchased a Dendrobium last week and it seemed just fine (roots healthy, leaves healthy, flowers healthy (not all bloomed), but throughout the week more flowers opened and I notice that petals have light brown spots? I Examined the flower closely and did not see anything crawling...I can not scrape anything off -- it is embedded in the flower.

Anyway, I have not seen this before, could it be; virus, infection; fungus?

I removed the flowers that have these spots (basically all of them 10+) and moved the plant in another room to be safe.

Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Jared

Hello and welcome to the forum!
Your problem is most likely caused by Botrytis fungus. Do you mist the flowers? Usually the flowers get affected if they are misted and there is poor air circulation.

Hmmm -- I do not mist my flowers and keep the fan on most days, but maybe it was not on strong enough -- we had a VERY damp week here. I will do a search to find out how to get rid of this Botrytis fungus.

Thanks for the welcome-- and thanks for the answer/advice.

Jared
