Javel Water

hello everyone, today marked another month and the time to wash the rocks in my humidity trays. I started bright and early this morning because the process usually take an hour or two, so I went and did as I always do and picked all the rocks in different containers, let them rest in water and javel water for an hour and then rinsed, rinsed again and again until I was sure there was no more and rinsed a last time for luck.
So far so good, I've been doing that for ever since my sens of smell is easily bothered by most odors, including the one caused by algae. Kind of humid and rancid... beurk!
Javel water is one f the only things most effective against them and any unwanted smells. But rinsing is kinda long and energy draining. So I was wondering if anyone knew if it was highly toxic to plants or like for humans a few drop could be beneficial or at least non damaging?
Thanks!

"Javel water"? Is this the equivalent of 10% chlorine bleach solution with water? If so, I have used it for many years to "treat" my rocks. You are probably aware that a 10% bleach solution is sometimes used as a "field sterilization" solution.

I have never had any problems using it. My cats and dogs don't complain.

When rinsing, I have the rocks in a large trash container and use a hose to thoroughly "flush" the rocks.

I know it is a good disinfectant and odor riddance product. When unsure if water is safe to drink it is told to add a few drop of javel water every litter to make it safe for consumption, I know it is safe for pets with the exception of fishes. But I was really wondering for plants as many people yell at the use of chlorine...
But thanks a lot Stitz, the fact that you never had a problem using it reassures me!

M-C, or years I routinely sprayed ny greenhouse with a 0.85% bleach solution, and never had an issue.

Have you ever tried keeping a small piece of Copper in the rocks, in the water?

I've used pennies before, it takes a little while to get going, but once it starts to oxidize, it'll help keep the algae growth down.

Renee, do you know if the water is still safe for plants afterward?
I am really curious about it!
If it works it will be very much worth it!

No, sorry I don't know. I just used it to keep the water in the rocks from getting nasty, back when I had humidity trays - years ago.
