rusty spots on Milt. leaves!

i have recently noticed some rusty spots on my Milt. leaves. they can't be rubbed off easily , i mean u really need some force, but eventually they do rub off.

i have checked cynthia's (check for mites) but the leaves are not sticky, the rusty powder does not move when placed on a tissue or paper. and i definately can't see any micro webs, and no silver looking leaves. can this be mites , or is it a defficiency of some sort (magnesium for example). if it is indeed mites, should i spray with any insecticide i can find? (can't find neem oil!)

thx
Farah

Somehow your question remained unanswered, I'm sorry for that.
I think just because small markings are common on leaves, and these don't seem to be harmful.

I don't know what the problem is, but the fact that the rusty spots can be rubbed off suggests they are an external problem rather than internal. And external would suggest that you need some sort of spray, either an insecticide or a fungicide. If you can make a spray of 1/3 Formula 409, 1/3 alcohol, and 1/3 water you might use that as an insecticide used once a week for three straight weeks. If that doesn't work, then you should look for a garden fungicide. Anything that's suitable for roses is suitable for orchids.

i think that my poor baby was stressed out for the past couple of weeks. now that it has a new potting medium , and have been transferred to the east facing bathroom (more humidity, more light) i think it will be happy there

i'll keep an eye on those spots , if they spread i'll let u know , thanks a lot for answering
