| what are these green spots on my Catt.
Can anyone help me identify what these spots on the sepals of this Catt. The photo does not give a true color. The spots are greenish/yellow with a small raised dot in the middle. Except for these spots the plant seems quite healthy. Any input would be appreciated.

The flash on the camra kind of drowns them out to see clearly. But are they plump little oval or tear drop kinda shaped and raised possibly walking prtty slowly ? If so may be aphids.... We had aphids really bad here this year and down on the lower part toward the stem is a bit clearer looks like that might be what I'm seeing on it. A better pick with above light or sun light no flash or partly sunny shot partly shaded may help see them

Orchidaddict: Thanks for responding. Pretty sure it's not scale. Nothing to scrape off. I was leaning towards botrytis, and have been spraying with fungicides. No other plants have these symptoms. Orchids4me: Sorry about the poor photography. I admit I know little about taking pictures. I am willing to learn and have picked up quite a few pointers since joining this Forum. Certainly not Aphids. Nothing that moves. These spots are round, greenish, and have a very small brown dot in the center. The dot is very slightly raised but nothing that you could scrape away. I shall try again to see if I can get a better Pic. Thanks for your input Angela.

it does not look like fungus problem to me. It seem to be inherit trait of the plant. Nothing serious i would worry about. Normally , i would see it as gall but those only appear on leave not flower.

I have a white Phal noid that did this during its last flowering. I'm pretty sure it was just caused from the high heat and humidity they were subject to (growing them outside) Is your Catt outside?

Yes, I am growing outside. The weather has been all over the place these last months going from very hot to a week of non-stop rain. Maybe that is what happened. Thanks for your input.

I would only guess that it was scarring. No idea really but would love to know. I would guess that something stung/bit the petal and the plant has healed over. Botrytis is normally black spots, so I would rule that out. Not even sure if a fungus/bacteria would cause that. |
