My new phalaenopsis leaf is looking weird??

I recently bought a Phalaenopsis at a store and the roots are really looking green and healthy but for some kind of reason this morning i was wondering why the flowers are taking so long to open, as i looked closer two of my leaves have this light brown spot on them, and i truly also make sure when i feed my orchids it doesn’t go onto the leaves. I’ve been feeding it no 2 Flower Fertilizer. It has been cold here in Johannesburg South Africa, but it stands inside my house. I truly don’t know what I’ve been doing wrong?

Hi from looking at the photos it is a bit difficult to tell exactly.
I suppect it has been kept to cool
Phallies like a tempature of minumn of 65 f and good humidity, they are realy tropical plants, love warmth, good humidity and resonable moisture around the roots without being wet.
Good tempature to keep them if possible is around 80F.
Cold or cool air will cause the flowers to wilt and abort
Any more info on were it is kept, the tempature etc
Cheerio

Hi Ron, thank you for you quick response, its standing close to one window where alot of light comes through but no sunlight, its been really cold here in JHB< South africa, we had about two cold fronts where the temps go down to -1 and during the day bout 16 degrees on a high. Would it be better if i move it to a window where the sun actually comes through - where i know it is alot warmer during the day time and at night?

some feedback on my phal, she's looking way better although the flowers are opening very slowly, only one bud has fallen off, probably coz i haven’t been given it lots of water, at least it warming up here in South Africa :-), will take some photos for you guys.

how r ur plants doing?

Hey Chantie,
I was reading your posts, and was just wondering how your plants are doing? Im from Cape Town, and bought my first phallie last year. I had the same problems during December last year, when the bulbs were not opening up, and just fell off. I too ascribed it to the temperature at that time (summer = hot hot hot).
I now have three phallies, of which the first one lost all its roots, and i am now trying the sphag n bag technique to try and rescue it... i think i'm losing the battle though, two weeks already in the bag, and it is not growing any new roots yet.
Keep well!

Hi harriet, the summer is always good for us, but winter it gets to cold and I’ve learned so much about Phallies. This Phallie on this post is doing really well only two buds fell off just when i bought it (it’s been flowering over 3 months now)and its leaning a bit but got a pot with a higher edge to support the stems. My other phallie has died (my first one ) it actually had a new leaf coming out but i think it was the winter and was too close to the window. On the pictures I’ve added this Phallie also had a problem with loosing buds and not wanting to open up, I’m currently using liquid flower food from woollies at its working really good, feeding it water once a week and every second week with the food, next time in winter i wouldn’t put them to close to the window. They beautiful but I must say-- people say growing Phallies is easy but i seem to differ, i like my cymbidiums and oncidiums haven’t had any problems with them even during winter to. Add some pictures so that we can see how she’s looking and what went wrong. Have a g8 day
