| green leaves have fallen off?
Hi, I'm new to this forum. I am trying to see if i can try helping this poor orchid that I was given in not too good of shape. There was one flower left that has since fallen off and one leaf that has fallen off. now its just the stem which is turning brown. Any ideas what I can do? Thanks! |

hi peacefrog, welcome to the forum! Sorry about your orchid, but not much hope, I am afraid.

If the roots are still alive, you could continue to care for it and hope it grows a basal keiki, but that would be the only hope for it.

Welcome to the forum... sorry to see a Phalaenopsis in such a sad state. Oh - and this time - take it out of the pot while it still has all its roots (and flowers too are ok) and check the roots - then repot it into something with drainage and airflow. These plants grow on trees, they like light and air on their roots. Your bromiliad (?) in the background looks happy - so your Phal will be too. Be careful not to get water in the center of the leaves if it cools off - that can cause the crown rot.

A) Welcome to Orchid Geeks! B) Love your name! C) please stay with us so we can help you prevent such traumatic orchid loss! They are very addictive, and if you can keep a plant as well as the one in the background, you can certainly be successful growing orchids. They're not difficult or mysterious...they're just different than most house plants.
