Yellowing Leaf

Hi all -

I bought a plant a month ago, and soon after one leaf yellowed. It was the oldest leaf, so I figured it was just time for it to lose a leaf even though it didn't look like the "normal" old age yellow to me.

Now the yellowing is on the next leaf so I'm wondering what it might be. I've examined the plant carefully and haven't found any bugs or anything. Do any of you know what this is?

Emma, what kind of orchid is it? Do you have any photos of the entire plant?

It's a phal equestris variety. Here are a couple of pictures I just took w/ my phone.

All I can tell you it isn't normal. I would check the roots to see if they are OK. If you have good roots, then I have no advice - sorry.

The first thing is to look at the roots to make sure they're healthy. Could you describe the growing conditions, light, temperature, etc.?

Hey all - It's in a clear pot and I can see healthy green roots. I examined the plant again and found almost microscopic red dots. I'm assuming they're tiny tiny bugs. They're smaller than spider mites and didn't move when I touched the plant.

So, I treated it w/ the best stuff ever and I'm hoping that helps. If not... we'll see.

Hi Emma, your mentioning its an equestris gave me a flash back to the first two I had...they turned out to both be virused, and looked a little similar. Now, I don't want to alarm you, but do you have any test strips?

How do I know which test strips to order? The test that covers multiple viruses is a bit pricey.

I hope this like will work...it's for ISK 13301, tests for CmV and OSRV. I bought 5 strips for $32.50.
