The other day I cut off a smushy part of a leaf and treated it with cinnamon. Today while watering I noticed this issue with the new pbulb. The center leaf is dried and there is discoloration inside the bulb. Is it bacteria? Should I remove it completely? No water has gotten down inside of it.

looks like it could be bacterial....try some physan 20 or phyton 27 if you have that....and only water in the mornings if you can.....

That does not look good - rot of some kind - it sometimes attacks the new growth first - then goes for the bigger bulbs. If the little growth is mushy I would cut it off too.. soak the whole plant in Physan and it doesn't get into the rest of the plant - and that you still have some viable growth nodes for it to grow from.

Should I quarantine it completely? The plant had some issues when I first got it. I though it had been taken care of...but I guess not.

The rot can travel in splashing water - so do keep it away from other susceptible plants. However, its not a bug thing - so they don't have to be in a different room all by themselves.

Unfortunately I find when I first see signs of rot it is usually further along than I think - and I go for the Physan immediately now.

I don't think I can treat the bacteria way down in that new growth...should I cut it off?

Do you have any anti-fungal/anti-bacterial chemicals (i.e. Physan 20)?

If the new growth is mushy or you see the new roots dying off - then cut it off - if it is not mushy and the new roots continue growing - leave it on - but you need to soak the whole plant in Physan 20 - that will get down in all the cracks, crevices, root area, everywhere. Hopefully it will get into any rot that is there.

I can't tell from the photograph if you have more than one old Pbulb. I also see that you have new roots coming from the bottom of that new growth - watch those carefully - they will tell you if something is wrong inside the new growth.

If the new growth turns to mush - and the pbulb that it is attached to starts to also - then I would remove it from any other pbulbs - hopefully nothing transmitted to the rest of the plant.

Instead of making a new thread, I've got a whole new set of problems. I ended up cutting off another new grown and ended up with two plants. Both are in hydro, at this point...I'm expecting to lose them.

What's going on here? Is it bacteria? If so why is it only attacking the new growths and in the middle? I don't water where anything would get down into them. I don't even mist them after 11am.

Yes - it looks bacterial. It got in awhile ago, and its playing havoc with the middle. Were you able to get any anti-bacterial Physan 20? If not - try hydrogen peroxide - in the brown bottle - pour it on straight into the center. You do have some new root growth there - hopefully you can stop the rot before it kills the bulb.

*breaks out the hydrogen peroxide* This growth had all the roots on it. I'm hoping the older backbulbs will shoot out some new roots but it's a long shot. I'd hate to lose my first baby.

This is what they look like these days. The new growth was lost completely. I keep treating these old girls with Superthrive. My biggest issues are keeping bacteria off the roots.
