Can you tell me why these spots occur?

I noticed a small spot on one flower and all though it doesn't seem to be growing, I am noticing that more flowers are getting them. Is this fungus, sun damage, or over fertilizing? I would really like to treat this asap if possible so that it doesn't effect the rest of the flowers.

would be nice to see the picture of the problem. It can be any problems from fungus to virus.

If there little green spots it's mold. Increase air circulation.

I do grow inside. I haven't been able to post pictures since the site went down. Does anyone know why?

It sounds like you're describing botrytis. It's a fungus that makes little black speckles on flowers. It's usually exacerbated by being both cool and wet. Of course I can't say for sure just by the description. A pic would help.

If it's botrytis, which afflicts blooms rather than foliage, it spreads rapidly so you would need to segregate the plant and spray with a fungicide. Unfortunately, your description could fit any number of things but if the brown/black spots are spreading and are confined to the blooms, assume the worst and act accordingly.

ok, I have pics now. Since my pics are jpg format I had to crop them significantly in order to get the pics to load. I would really like to hear your thoughts on these spots. I have sprayed the plant with Organicide as a precaution. Thanks for any help you can throw my way!

Well it's not botrytis. It doesn't even look fungal to me. It just looks like the flowers are starting to go off. How old are the flowers?

They started opening about 4 weeks ago and the 15th and final bloom opened about 1 week ago. The flowers that are photographed are the more recent to open. We've had cold and rainy days lately which is not typical for this time of year so watering has been tricky. Fungus is what I was beginning to think but I couldn't find any similar pictures online. I'm going to watch and if they get any worse, I will pluck the effected flowers. I have other plants about to flower and I don't want to see this in any others.

4 weeks is not bad for the bloom. it almost time to loose the flower, nothing serious that i can think of.
