spring tails

How do you rid these spring tails? They are in the coco chip in clusters of to many tiny gray things to count so infestation ?????? What's safe to rid them and not hurt the plants (flask babies)- mostly consisting of Paphs and Phals
I did some research to identify what they are but no clear safe way given to rid them. Others are a few epi's and encyclias (flask babies also) only seem to find them in the coco chip ones. Can't see if are in the ones in sphag. Just want to treat everything babies and adult plants.
Any recipes, advice stuff to use that's safe for the babies appreciated
God I'm itching just recalling my watering session lol. It just all bad
Thanks in advance
Emmaye

Well, Steve, that would work, but I don't know how the plants would take it.

Sorry to hear you are getting "bugged" Emmaye, wish I could help.

Well I have bayer 3 and 1 but don't know how to dose it for babies and I can make brookins recipe also but don't know how potent it would be on the babies if I should reduce it drops of cinnamon extract and if I did would it be effective.....guess soak them all un potted and repot in new media but will they hop on new stuff while trying to repot. That's 27 72 hole pans plus about. 60 to 80 seedlings. And about 60 or 70 adult plants and one of me. Think I can repot fast enough

Springtails do not harm the plant, but they live on decaying medium, so I guess repotting would help. Also I would try to keep the plants on the dryer side for a few weeks.

I have them in a lot of plants but can't tell that they are adversely affecting anything. Have heard they don't. I also heard that they like decaying mediums but I grow everything in LECA so.....if they become unmanageable I'd try something with Imidacloprid (Bayer) or a mixture of alcohol and dish soap.

G'Day Emmaye

If you haven't already read it this springtail control, Springtail Control, SPRINGTAIL CONTROL, springtail control, Springtail Control, SRPINGTAIL CONTROL, springtails, Springtails, SPRINGTAILS, SPRING TAIL CONTROL, spring tail control, springtail infestation, Springtail Infestation, S may be of interest, also lists some products near the end. I have also heard vinegar is effective.

Cheers
Bernie
